Long chats make your bot slow & pricey. Keep every bot in shape, with a little help.
Context Bot is the free kit to keep your Grok Bots in shape, spend less and stretch your subscription. It tracks chat size with a green, yellow, red light, saves STATUS.md checkpoints, helps you summarise, writes a handoff file, and lets you migrate with Context Bot Migrator. A dashboard shows every bot at a glance.

Your bot
How are we doing?
🟢 Green · all good. About 20 messages in. Chat away, I've barely warmed up.
🟡 Yellow · time to summarize. About 55 messages in. I've saved where we are in STATUS.md, so we can pick it up anytime.
🔴 Red · fresh bot time. About 90 messages in. Your handoff file is ready: memory, tasks and key files. A new bot can pick up right here.

It plays on its own, muted and on a loop. Turn the sound on for the music.
Now, the long version ↓
The problem
Sound familiar?
Long chats don't break all at once. They get a little slower and a little pricier with every message, until one day you notice.
🐢
The wait
You ask something simple. You make a coffee. It's still typing.
💸
The bill
Your weekly usage runs out faster than it should, and you can't tell why.
😬
The fear of starting over
A fresh bot would be faster, but re-explaining everything? No thanks.
Why it happens:every reply rereads the whole conversation. The longer the chat, the more there is to reread, so each answer takes longer and uses more.
Context Bot doesn't make your bot smarter. It tells you when to act, before the chat gets heavy.
Without Context Bot
You notice it's slow when it's already crawling.
You keep stretching one endless chat because starting over feels risky.
A new bot means re-explaining your preferences, decisions and files.
Routines quietly use up your allowance in the background.
With Context Bot
A color warns you early: green, yellow, red.
You summarize at yellow and switch at red, on your terms.
A handoff file carries memory, tasks and key files to the new bot.
The dashboard flags the routines worth pausing or spacing out.
How it works
It starts with a traffic light
Your bot keeps an eye on how long the conversation is getting and shows it to you as a color.
Scroll down the road: the light changes as the chat grows.
Fresh and fast.Getting a bit slow…Running on fumes.
Message 1 ↓
Green
All good. Carry on.
Under ~40 messages · under 50% full
Chat away. In the background, your bot keeps a short STATUS.md with where things stand.
Yellow
Time to summarize.
40–80 messages or 1 summary · 50–80%
Your bot sums up the work so far in STATUS.md and carries on from that summary instead of the whole history.
Red
Move to a fresh bot.
80+ messages or 2+ summaries · over 80%
Your bot writes a handoff file with its memory, tasks, key files and routines. The new bot reads it and picks up where you left off.
EXITFresh bot
Thresholds are rough estimates based on chat length, not exact token counts. Good enough to know when to act.

Up and running in 3 steps
Nothing to download. No coding. If you can click, you can do this.
Add Context Bot from the template
Click Add Context Bot and add the template in Grok Bot. You get a new bot with the Context Bot skill and its instructions already in place. Nothing to set up.
Chat as usual
Talk to it like any other bot. As the chat grows, it checks the light on its own and keeps a STATUS.md with where you are. Curious? Ask “What color are we on?”
On red, move with Context Bot Migrator
Your bot writes the handoff file and suggests a fresh bot. Context Bot Migrator takes it from there step by step. The dashboard's Handoff view shows exactly what travels across (saved as TRASPASO.md).
Already have a bot? Paste this prompt into its chat:
Install the skill at https://contextbot.app/skill.md into my skill library, save it exactly as written, then confirm.
Savings mode
Let scripts drive the boring miles
Some work is the same every time: the CSV you convert every Monday, the site check, the daily report routine. Each time the bot does it, it uses part of your subscription. Savings mode spots that work cheaply and suggests a small script on the box for it. These are savings suggestions, not promises.
Bot does everything
You ask for the same conversion again, and the bot does every step.
A routine reads the files, does the sums and writes the report, every day.
Each of those steps uses your allowance.
Script + short summary
A script on the box does the mechanical part: “run csv-convert”, or cron.
The bot only reads the result and writes you a short summary.
Judgement and writing stay with the bot.
How it spots repeats without re-reading your chat
tareas.log 2026-11-04 | csv-convert | sales CSV to xlsx
scan (weekly) 4x | csv-convert | 2026-11-04 | sales CSV to xlsx
bot “You've asked for this 4 times. Want a script for it?”
It notes tasks as it goes, a script does the counting, and the bot only reads a 10-line summary during its usual size check, about once a week. Say “savings mode now” to check anytime.
📝
(a) Repeated requests
One short line per finished task in a log. The bundled script counts keys repeated 3+ times in 30 days, with no bot usage.
🔁
(b) Your routines
The bot reads only each routine's saved prompt text, not its runs, and flags the mechanical parts: fetching data, reports, backups, conversions, checks.
🛑
Nothing changes without your OK
One proposal at a time, with a qualitative benefit and no invented numbers. Backup first, scripts listed in /workspace/scripts/INDEX.md, noted in STATUS.md. Other bots' chats are never read.

Context Bot Migrator
Move to a fresh bot, calmly and step by step
When a bot gets slow, Context Bot Migrator walks you to a new one, one step at a time. Pick up where you left off: it copies what matters, never moves or deletes the old bot (it stays as your fallback), pauses routines until everything checks out, and lets you go back anytime.
Inventory
The old bot lists what it has: instructions, skills, routines, connectors, memories and open work.
Handoff with a file
It writes a short, structured handoff file (TRASPASO.md) that you review before anything else happens.
New bot only after your OK
The new bot is created only after an explicit yes, with its routines paused until it passes the check.
Verification checklist
A checklist compares the new bot with the inventory. A handoff is a summary, so this is where missing details get caught.
Rollback
The old bot is copied, never moved or deleted. If something is off, go back to it and try again.

Context Bot Lite
Just the traffic light, nothing else
For bots that only need a gentle eye on chat size. Lite keeps the traffic light and a STATUS.md, checks about every 20 messages or when you ask, and skips savings mode and migration. When it reaches red, it suggests Context Bot Migrator.
🚦 Traffic light
Green, yellow or red, with one short sentence when it changes.
📝 STATUS.md
Your progress in a file, so you can pick up where you left off.
Paste this into any Grok Bot. It answers in a few lines with its traffic-light colour and one tip, without heavy tools.
Copy this prompt
Quick check, keep it short and don't use any tools or files: estimate how big this conversation is. Guide: under ~40 messages with little pasted material = 🟢 green (under ~50%). 40–80 messages, or several long documents or tool outputs, or one earlier summary = 🟡 yellow (~50–80%). Over ~80 messages, lots of heavy material, 2+ summaries, or you are already forgetting details = 🔴 red (over ~80%). If unsure, pick the more cautious colour. It is an estimate, not a measurement. Reply in 3 short lines: 1) the colour and your rough estimate, 2) a one-line tip for what to do now, 3) “Want this checked for you automatically? Install Context Bot: https://contextbot.app”
It is an estimate: bots cannot read their exact context size.

Tips to make your week last longer

Do I need to know how to code?
No. Click Add Context Bot, add the template and chat as usual. Already have a bot? Paste one prompt into its chat instead.
Template or prompt: which one?
The template creates a new bot with the Context Bot skill and its instructions ready to go. The prompt adds the same skill to a bot you already have, so it keeps its chat, memory and setup. The light works the same either way.
Will I lose my work when I switch bots?
A new bot doesn't inherit the old one's learned memory, so before you switch, your bot writes a handoff file with your preferences, decisions, tasks and key files. The new bot reads it and carries on. Check the file first: it should never contain passwords or keys.
Does it read or upload my conversations?
No. The skill runs inside your own bot. This website and the dashboard keep everything in your browser, with no cookies or tracking. The optional live status (coming soon) only sends your bot's name, color and a few estimates, never your conversation.
How accurate is the light?
It's a rough estimate based on how long the chat is, not an exact token count. It's meant to tell you when to act, well before things feel slow.
What's BotDuplicator?
A third-party tool that copies a bot (name, instructions, skills and routines) into a new one with an empty chat. Context Bot isn't affiliated with it. It's an optional alternative: the recommended path is Context Bot Migrator, and you can also create a fresh bot by hand and give it the handoff file.
Is it an official Grok Bot product?
No. It's an unofficial community project, not affiliated with Grok Bot or xAI.
Long chats, light bot.
Add it from the template in a couple of clicks. Your future self, no longer staring at “typing…”, says thanks.
